Approved in third debate of the ACP budget for 2016


For fiscal year 2016, the budget of the ACP amounts to B / 2000 630 700 000. Worth an estimated B / 2000 630 700 000 amount, the full National Assembly approved on third reading of Bill No. 226, which dictates the budget of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), for fiscal year from 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2016. The new budget projects a direct contribution to the national treasury of 1,060 million dollars, representing an increase of $ 93.4 million compared to projections for the year 2015 and are contemplated indirect contributions by B / 181 million dollars, comprising payments to income tax, social insurance and educational insurance, and other contributions to the national economy. The Canal project budget for the next fiscal year includes investments in the order of B / 161.1 million. The adoption of this budget will provide the Canal Authority instrument required to ensure that the waterway continues to work safely, efficiently and cost-effectively, so that the modernization and expansion programs can be executed. According to the organization, there is great anticipation for the opening of the expanded Canal next year, which could enhance the contributions of this waterway to the national treasury and largely benefit insurance plans.
